One door for gifts and purchases
How I made Verus purchase codes work in every app already in people's hands, without shipping an app update.
What I tried
I built a way to buy Verus Plus anywhere and redeem a code in the app, with nothing linking the payment to a messaging address. The first version gave purchases a door of their own.
Why I chose differently
The apps already in people's hands use a single door for codes. One was in App Store review. The server needed to meet them there.
What I chose
That single door now recognises both kinds of code while keeping them strictly apart. A withdrawn gift keeps its own message. I verified the whole path in production.
The principle
The contract is whatever the shipped apps already do. Design the server around it.
