Verus for Android: one call, whichever phone is at the other end
A new Android release of Verus in which calls between Android and iPhone carry sound both ways, end cleanly for both people and can be rated afterwards.
What I tried
Verus runs on iPhone, Mac and Android. Each app first handled call audio in the way that suited its own platform best.
Why I chose differently
People do not choose who calls them by phone maker. A call has to behave the same whichever two devices are on it.
What I chose
I settled both apps on one shared way of carrying call audio, so Android and iPhone hear each other as well as two phones of the same kind do. Ending a call on one phone now ends it on the other. Each call can also be rated afterwards so quality can be measured rather than guessed. The release went out through Google Play to 178 countries.
The principle
Test across platforms from the first call, not the last. The pair you did not test is the pair your users will have.
