Verus Relay boxes that talk to each other by radio

I brought up the LoRa radio inside two Verus Relay boxes. Each now announces its name over the air every minute, with no internet in the path.

What I tried

Verus Relay boxes are built on hardware that already carries a long-range radio. Every off-grid feature I want, from messages between boxes to a Bluetooth courier, starts with that radio.

Why I chose differently

The radio had always been driven by the boxes' original software. With that gone, it had to be brought up from scratch.

What I chose

I brought the radio up under our own software. Each Verus Relay now says its name over the air and logs the names of the relays it hears. Two boxes hear each other clearly, with no internet involved.

The principle

Start with the smallest thing that proves the whole path: a name said and a name heard.
