Verus Relay boxes that set themselves up wherever they are plugged in
More Verus Relay boxes, built from spare hardware, that configure themselves and tell the network where they are, ready to hand out.
What I tried
Verus Relay boxes give calls more routes. Each new box started out needing its home address entered on the server by hand.
Why I chose differently
I am handing boxes out, so they must work at anyone's house with no setup and keep working when a home connection changes.
What I chose
New boxes now set themselves up on their own: network, relay and updates. Each one tells the network where it is when it checks in, so a box can move house with no changes. Two more boxes went live this way, both built from spare hardware already on hand.
The principle
Hardware you hand to other people has to set itself up. Anything that needs you there does not scale.
